Role Overview:

As an Adoption Counselor at Furballs of Atlanta, you will play a crucial role in connecting potential adopters with their fur companions. Your primary responsibilities will include guiding individuals and families through the adoption process, providing education about cat care, and ensuring that each adoption aligns with the best interests of both the cats and their new families.

Responsibilities:

• Consultative Support: Engage with prospective adopters to understand their lifestyle, preferences, and needs in relation to pet ownership.

• Education: Provide detailed information about cat behavior, care requirements, and the responsibilities associated with pet ownership.

• Matchmaking: Assess the individual traits and personalities of cats in our care and recommend suitable matches for adopters.

• Application Processing: Review and approve adoption applications, ensuring that potential adopters meet the organization's criteria for responsible pet ownership.

• Home Checks: Conduct virtual home checks as required to evaluate the suitability of the living environment for the cats.

• Adoption Day: Be present for assigned adoption days and host the family’s adoption day. Adoption day duties include, Familiarizing yourself with the medical history and any pertinent details about the cat(s) you will be assisting. This includes vaccinations, any past illnesses, and general health status. Being knowledgeable about the cat's background will enable you to answer potential adopters' questions more effectively.

• Capture Content: Taking quality content of all the cats up for adoption is crucial. These images will be used for promotional purposes and social media posts to assist in finding their furever home. Aim for well-lit and engaging content that showcase the cat's personality.

• Post-Adoption Follow-Up: Maintain contact with adopters after the adoption to offer ongoing support and resources, fostering a positive relationship and encouraging successful adoptions.

• Community Engagement: Actively engage and participate in our ‘Hero Tribe’ Facebook Group

Qualifications:

• Passion for Cats: Passion for animal welfare and a strong desire to help homeless cats find loving homes.

• Experience: Skilled in customer service, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Feline Knowledge: Knowledge of feline care, behavior, and adoption processes preferred.

• Teamwork: Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues and volunteers.

• Good Energy: Warm, friendly, enthusiastic personality

• Social Media Content Creation: Know how to capture quality photos and video footage to showcase the cat’s personality

Time Commitment:

This a role that requires dedication to work as adoptions come in. Must have flexibility to attend and host assigned adoption days and meet + greets during the week and/or weekends. Schedule is flexibe.
