Treasurer
We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented individual to join our board as Treasurer. The Treasurer plays a vital role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our organization, overseeing financial planning, budgeting and reporting processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine your passion for animal welfare with your financial expertise to make a tangible difference in the lives of cats in need.
Responsibilities:
Oversee Funds: Monitor financial transactions, including donations, grants, and expenses via online banking and donation platforms
Make Payments: Pay FOA invoices such as veterinary bills, insurance premiums, and any FOA licenses required in a timely fashion. Purchase foster supplies on an as needed basis
Budgeting: Develop and oversee organizational budgets on a category and project-based level in collaboration with the board and executive director
Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to the board on a consistent basis during monthly board meetings
Accounting: Record the organization's financial and transaction receipts and ensure all accounts are reconciled in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements
Develop Policies: Develop policies and ensure compliance with relevant financial policies, procedures, and regulations
Financial Advisory: Provide financial guidance and support to the board and executive director as needed
Cooperation with IRS/Auditors: Work closely with external auditors and advisors to ensure transparency and compliance of our 501c3 status
Qualifications:
Passion for Cats: We require you to love cats dearly with a commitment to our mission
Organization: Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
Strong + Firm Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Keep things Confidential: Ability to maintain confidentiality about members of our board, our organization’s internal operations and handle sensitive information
Tech Savvy: Must know how to use computers and navigate things online quickly
Accounting Experience: Proven experience in financial management and/or accounting
Knowledge of Non-Profit Principles: Strong understanding of nonprofit financial principles and practices
Specialize in Quickbooks: Proficiency in Quickbooks financial and accounting software
Board Experience: Previous board or leadership experience is preferred, but not required
Good Energy: Warm, friendly, enthusiastic personality
Time Commitment:
The Treasurer of the Board position requires attendance at regular board meetings hosted monthly (in person or virtually) and additional time for tasks, averaging approximately 5-10 hours per month.
